Webb Lectures, Preaches at Hood Theological Seminary
Thanks to an invitation from Dr. Andre Resner, homiletics professor, Dr.
Joseph Webb visited Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina,
on Tuesday, March 11. Webb preached in chapel and lectured to a combined
set of classes about "preaching without notes." The students at Hood
Seminary use Webb's book,
Preaching Without Notes, in their introductory
preaching classes, and the class discussion that ensued was both lively and
insightful.

Webb's chapel sermon was based on the story of Deborah and Barak from
chapters 4 and 5 of Judges, and was titled, "The Woman Behind the Lattice."
It is a sermon that is published in Webb's book,
Old Texts, New Sermons:
The Quiet Revolution in Biblical Preaching
(Chalice Press, 2000). As part of
the day, the students participated in a book signing with Dr. Webb, under the
auspices of the Augsburg Bookstory on campus.

As the above photograph indicates, the occasion also provided a first
introduction to this web site, the "audio" version, in effect, of the
Preaching
Without Notes
textbook.
